New Delhi: Hailing from Raigad, Maharashtra, Shams Zakir Mulani has established himself as a versatile cricketer. He represents Mumbai in domestic cricket and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. Mulani made his Twenty20 debut for Mumbai in the 2017–18 Zonal T20 League on 11 January 2018, followed by his List A debut in the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 5 February 2018. His talent was recognized when he was selected to India A’s squad for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy and India’s team for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. In December 2019, Mulani achieved a significant milestone by taking his first five-wicket haul in first-class cricket during the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy. Proving his worth as a consistent performer, Mulani impressed with 46 wickets in seven games in the 2022-23 Ranji season and 16 scalps in 10 matches in the 2022-23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His dedication and skill make him a valuable asset to the Indian cricketing scene.
The 27-year-old made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut with Mumbai Indians in 2024, he played two matches starting with Gujarat Titans on 24th March 2024 and then against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 27th March 2024.
Talking about the current scenario, Shams Mulani is featuring India A and he played a patient knock of 89 partnering with Tanush Kotian who scored 53 in the first innings of the 3rd match between India A and India D in Duleep Trophy 2024. It is worth mentioning that Shams Mulani is an all-rounder, he performed not only with bat but also with the ball, he dismissed three big names in India D, First he bamboozled Devdutt Padikkal, then he cleaned skipper Shreyas Iyer and then he took Sanju Samson’s wicket too. This shows the quality and impression of the bowler, he grabbed 3 big wickets in the match at Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur.
