The Foxes struggled to secure a win against their League Two opponents, ultimately relying on a penalty shootout to advance to the fourth round.
Before the shootout got underway – with the score at 0-0 – Leicester fans voiced their displeasure at their team’s performance at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.
‘Walsall deserve more than that,’ Former Premier League defender Curtis Davies told the BBC after Steve Cooper’s side won on penalties.
‘They should keep their heads up and are flying in League Two. They went toe-to-to with a Premier League team and forced them to penalties.
‘I think they can take that and improve on their league form even more.
‘Walsall should have won it in normal time and penalties are the least they deserve. Leicester will be really disappointed. They have been so, so sloppy.’
Walsall have enjoyed a strong start in League Two this season – the fourth tier of English football – three levels below top-flight Leicester.
The Saddlers are third in the table after seven games but Leicester fans are giving no excuses for their team’s poor performance.
One Leicester supporter, @LutterworthFox, posted on X: ‘I’ve seen some s*** Leicester City performances in my lifetime but this one about tops the lot.
‘Absolutely woeful. I don’t care if 10 changes have been made, this team is full of internationals, FA Cup winners, experiences professionals and more. Its like no one cares!
‘I was all for giving Cooper a chance but so far I see nothing, I can’t see what we’re trying to do, I can’t see a style.
‘He just doesn’t seem to have a clue. It’s a massive shame as I do kinda like him but he won’t keep us up [in the Premier League].’
